Description
In 2008, Some of the Seki knife authorities have formed "Seki Challengers Knife Club" to train and inherit Seki traditional knifemaking technique and knowledge to young knife craftsmen in Seki. There are now 15 club members gathering once a month. They are working at Seki knife factories, and challenging to make their own custom knives after work and weekends.
JKD is supporting and encouraging them by introducing their knives for sale. Here are some of the latest knives received.
At the Challengers meeting in September, I gave each member SOG Stingray 2.0 knives and asked them to come up with any possible remaking whatever they like. After 3 months, I have received 7 different custom re-making knives. Each one is very unique showing each personality and character.
As you know, SOG Stingray 2.0 is the evolved Gentleman Folder with Arc-Lock device produced by G.Sakai in Seki during 2009 - 2019, and has been discontinued. I have been working with SOG from the beginning of 1993, supplying all fixed blade and folding knives from Seki. Unfortunately, SOG has discontinued all Japanese knives, and switched to China and Taiwan in 2019.
12/2024: Just came up with new inlays. These are truly unique collector models for the old SOG collectors!
