In the final finishing work, Hattori gives special care to check every detail — blade grinding and polishing flows, warping, angles, handle shaping, fitting, and more. Every knife that does not meet his strict quality standard is returned to be reworked from the beginning or discarded entirely.

His "Never Compromise" attitude in seeking the finest workmanship has earned him the title of "World's Best Knife Craftsman." He was also honored to receive the "Excellent Skilled Craftsman Award" from the Seki Knife Industrial Association.

Hattori TV-2V S.O.G. Bowie Knife — Vintage Edition

A faithful reproduction of the legendary S.O.G. Vietnam knife, the TV-2 has long been one of Hattori's most iconic designs. For this special Vintage Edition, Hattori went a step further — selecting only the finest, thinnest leather washers from a carefully preserved stock sourced so many years ago. Each piece was hand-chosen for its exceptional quality and aged character, then meticulously crafted into a handle that breathes new life into the classic TV-2.

The result is a handle with a distinctly three-dimensional, rounded form — warm to the touch, rich in texture, and unmistakably old-world in its aesthetic. The depth and curvature of the leather give the knife a presence that feels both timeless and alive in the hand.

True to the concept of creating the ultimate vintage TV-2, this edition carries a character that no standard production run can replicate. The aged leather, the careful hand-finishing, and the organic warmth of the handle all come together to tell a story of craftsmanship across generations.

The blade is a 6-1/4" hollow ground Bowie-type, semi-mirror polished AUS-8 Molybdenum/Vanadium stainless steel with a large false edge on the back. The solid stainless steel hilt and butt feature a lanyard hole, and the knife comes with a top-grain leather sheath with a sharpening stone pocket.

Each knife is presented in the Hattori Original Box, featuring Hattori's classic retro design boxes  — a fitting complement to the vintage character of this special edition.
