Description

Grand Master Hattori became 80 years old. In Japan, a person’s 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanjyu. To celebrate his special anniversary year, and also his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori has decided to produce a Special Limited Edition Collection of knives called the 傘 San Series.

The Hattori 傘 San Series knife collection will feature special, very limited production models, which Master Hattori can no longer produce in large quantites due to the rarity or limited availability of handle materials or blade materials.

This is the 117th version of Hattori "SAN" Limited edition" celebrating his 80th year old anniversary. He has selected the Hattori Best Selling Knife, #3717 Classic Tanto and used the best part of Desert Ironwood for the custom combination handle. This knife is produced for very limited quantity with 傘SAN etching on the blade and Presentation box.

SAN-117-4 Custom Classic Tanto "Serial No.4" (Cocobolo Wood Handle) is just finished for 15Pcs.  Hattori chose the best selling #3717 Classic Tanto for the SAN Limited Edition Knife Collection.  This is the Serial No.4.

Unique reverse Tanto tip,  4-inch VG-10 traditional Tanto style Hollow ground blade in a half mirror polish.  4-inch Cocobolo wood handle with a hidden tang securely fastened with solid Brass hilt and butt and Black Fiber Spacers. Hattori carefully selected the quality Cocobolo wood for the handle.  The Knife Comes with dark brown leather sheath.

VG-10 blade in 4.0mm thick, 100mm blade, 197mm overall, Weight 127g

Cocobolo wood has a rich red-brown color and a beautiful, unique natural woodgrain pattern. Hattori's fine handwork can be seen in the perfectly shaped, hand contoured, custom handles. Cocobolo Wood is becoming more rare and distinctive due to the recent introduction of restrictive import laws (Following a CITES convention that limits the international trade of endangered Rosewood species).
