Master Hattori became 80 years old. In Japan, a person's 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanju. To celebrate his special anniversary year, and also his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori has decided to produce a Special Limited Edition Collection of knives called the 傘 San Series.

The Hattori 傘 San Series knife collection will feature special, very limited production models, which Master Hattori can no longer produce in large quantities due to the rarity or limited availability of handle materials or blade materials.

At the end of year 2021, Hattori launched the new "GECKO" brand knife collection, which will grow over time to become an exciting series of distinctive, high-end knives.

Needless to say, Hattori is Japan's top-ranked Knife Maker and Hattori's new high-end GECKO brand knife collection will be handcrafted using all of Hattori's experience, skill, spirit and passion. Just like the Hattori 傘 SAN Series knife collection, the Hattori GECKO brand knife collection will feature special, very limited production models, which Master Hattori can no longer produce in large quantities due to the rarity or limited availability of handle materials or blade materials.

Each knife in the Hattori GECKO knife collection will have a unique "GECKO" Trade Mark logo etched. In Japan, the "GECKO" is considered a special creature, which brings good luck and fortune, protecting and preserving your family and your house. This communicates Hattori's sincere wish that all Hattori knife fans and serious knife collectors will have good luck and fortune in their lives.

Hattori 傘 SAN-GECKO Limited Edition GECKO-33 — Wild Dream Hunter

For this special limited edition, Hattori selected the HT-05 Dream Hunter — one of Hattori’s most beloved and practical knife models — as the foundation for a truly one-of-a-kind creation.

The defining feature of the GECKO-33 is its Jigged Bone handle. Hattori has meticulously adjusted the depth, angle, and rhythm of each jigging groove by hand, achieving a texture that is more dynamic and wild than any standard jigged bone finish. The result is a handle with a wild and dynamic character — rugged yet refined — that gives each knife its own distinct personality. Because every groove is worked by hand, no two knives are exactly alike. Each piece is a singular work of craftsmanship that cannot be replicated.

A total of 20 pieces have been produced, each individually numbered with its own serial number. Japanese Knife Direct is proud to offer Serial Numbers 1 through 10 from this exclusive run. Once these are gone, they will not be available again.

The blade is a 4-inch heavy gauge (4.5mm thick) re-curved hollow ground AUS-8 Drop-Point with a large false edge on the back. The hand-contoured Jigged Bone handle features Red/Black spacers and a solid Nickel Silver hilt with rivets. Full tang construction with a Nickel Silver tubular lanyard hole. Comes with a black leather sheath and a fancy gift box.
