伝統工芸士Dentoukougeishi are “Traditional Master Craftsmen” that have been recognized and certified by the Japanese “Ministry of International Trade & Industry”. This prestigious title was awarded to Forge-Master Nao Yamamoto, of Takefu City, in the year 2020 for his decades of hard work and extensive experience in traditional knife forging and handcrafting methods.
His knives are simple, functional and traditionally hammer forged. We can feel his passion, his desire for originality and his careful consideration of the user’s needs and perspective.
NY-1 "Sea Master" is an original Yamamoto design that was created especially for fishermen. For high cutting performance, Master Yamamoto selected the High-quality Japanese stainless steel Hitachi “Gingami No.3” and Clad it with Stainless Steel for ease of maintenance and rust resistance — An important consideration where contact with sea water is likely. The knife has a unique integral handle, which is forged from stainless steel and offers a fine grip. All of the Fisherman’s needs have been considered, including the unique design of the notched blade spine, which is useful for removing fish scales. The knife comes with a handcrafted natural wood sheath that has a belt loop strap and carabiner.
