Description
Mcusta's newest model was inspired by Japanese traditional Higonokami (肥後守); a type of friction folder, which has a Chikiri ('thumb lever') that can be used to both open the blade and prevent it from accidentally closing while in use.
The 3-1/4" (82mm) blade is hollow ground and features a San Mai (3-layer) laminated construction, with a VG-10 core and soft stainless steel cladding. The wavy lamination line intentionally mimics the famous Hamon of traditional Katana swords.
The 4-1/4" long handle is machined from Black Staminawood with stylish Green stripes, and has a colored lanyard cord. The knife uses a Slip-Joint type construction and 420J2 stainless steel liners.
This knife is supplied with a traditional Nishijin woven cloth pouch and a tasseled, braided cord, which secures the pouch flap. Mcusta’s passionate craftsmanship and innovative designs have resulted in a stylish, practical tool that updates the traditional Japanese Higonokami knife for the 21st century.
VG-10 San Mai Clad blade 2.8mm thick, 3-3/8" (85mm) long, 7-3/4" (195mm) when open, weight 2-1/2 oz. (70g).
