When Hattori is working with the finest wood materials and stag, Hattori carefully preserves even the smallest offcuts. Unlike mass-produced industrial plastics and artificial materials, natural materials are at a disadvantage in terms of quality control, cost, and production efficiency. However, Hattori believes the mission is to craft each piece with care and dedication, one knife at a time.

Each natural material born from the earth has its own unique character. Hattori believes it is the duty to design and evolve Hattori's work while honoring these individual qualities. When these materials are no longer needed, they all return to the earth. We live within the great cycle of nature, and we cherish the awareness that we are part of this eternal flow.

About Hattori 傘 SAN Limited Edition

Grand Master Hattori became 80 years old. In Japan, a person's 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanjyu. To celebrate his special anniversary year and his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori has decided to produce a Special Limited Edition Collection of knives called the 傘 San Series.

The Hattori 傘 San Series knife collection features special, very limited production models, which Master Hattori can no longer produce in large quantities due to the rarity or limited availability of handle materials or blade materials.

SAN-140 Hattori Natures Edition

This is the 140th version of the Hattori "SAN" Limited Edition, celebrating his 80th anniversary year. Master Hattori has selected the Cowry-X Damascus Special Classic Utility Hunter and used the finest African Ebonywood combined with Desert Ironwood for the custom combination handle. In this piece, Hattori's philosophy of honoring natural materials comes to life - each piece of wood has its own unique character and grain pattern, making every knife truly one-of-a-kind.

The Hattori SAN-140 Limited Cowry-X Damascus Special Utility Hunter is made of Hattori's exclusive Cowry-X Damascus - a Cowry-X powdered tool steel core forge-layered with Nickel and Stainless Damascus steel. The blade is engraved with "Only One Made," a testament to its singular existence and the unrepeatable nature of working with natural materials. It features a 4" utility blade with a hand-rounded African Ebonywood and Desert Ironwood custom combination handle, solid brass hilt and buttcap, and hidden tang construction. Comes with a brown leather sheath and gift box.
