A few years ago, Master Hattori became 80 years old. In Japan, a person’s 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanjyu. To celebrate his special anniversary year, and his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori decided to produce a Special Limited Edition Collection of knives called the 傘 San series. 

The Hattori 傘 San series knife collection will feature special, very limited production models, which Master Hattori can no longer produce in large quantities due to the rarity or limited availability of handle materials or blade materials. 

This is the 90th release in the Hattori "SAN" Limited Edition series, which celebrates his 80th year. For the SAN-90, Master Hattori chose the KD30-MEDAKA Cowry X Damascus Slim Utility model. To make something unique and distinctive for this knife collection, Hattori carefully selected some fantastic Purple Jigged Bone handle material, he then hand contoured and polished the handles to produce a unique Texture. The top half of the handle has a unique dimpled Tsuchime texture and the bottom half has a smooth and beautiful surface. Hattori wanted to make the unique Jigged Bone Custom Handles extra special and extra beautiful.

The Hattori SAN-90 Limited Cowry-X Damascus Slim Utility Knife has a slim 3.3-inch (85mm) blade with a Cowry-X core that is sandwiched between forge-layered Nickel/Stainless Damascus steel. The Unique Custom Jigged Bone Handle is 4-inch (100mm) long, it is fastened to the Tapered Full Tang with nickel silver pins and also features a lanyard hole tube. The knife includes a brown Leather Sheath and a Gift Box with the special "Sanjyu 80 year anniversary gold label. 

Cowry-X Damascus blade is 3.2mm (⅛-inch) thick and 85mm (3.3-inch) long, overall knife length 185mm (7.2-inch), weight 49g (1.7 oz).
