Grand Master Hattori became 80 years old. In Japan, a person’s 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanjyu. To celebrate his special anniversary year, and also his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori has decided to produce a Special Limited Edition Collection of knives called the 傘 San Series. 

The Hattori 傘 San Series knife collection will feature special, very limited production models, which Master Hattori can no longer produce in large quantites due to the rarity or limited availability of handle materials or blade materials.

This is the 108th version of Hattori "SAN" Limited edition" celebrating his 80th year old anniversary. He has selected Cowry X Damascus Precision Master Utility (KD30-101), and finished sophisticated and stylish Limited Edition Knife Collection.  The Ocean Blue Color Ring makes sophisticated and impressive overall design with the solid Nickel Silver hilt and Butt cap. 

Hattori SAN-108 "COOL" Cowry X Damascus Precision Master Utility is featuring 3-1/2" Spear Point, Master Hattori's legendary famous Cowry-X Damascus blade with swede on back, 4" Black Wood Micarta handle with Nickel Silver hilt and  butt with the Ocean Blue Color Ring. Comes with Double stitched Brown leather sheath, Gift box with "Sanjyu 80 year anniversary message and gold label.

 Mr. Hattori is an uncompromising traditional craftsman and he utilizes all of his available energy, passion, and expertise to create these beautiful and outstanding cutting performance Cowry X Damascus knife collections which are made using ancient forging and sword making techniques.

 Each hand forged blade has a core layer of Cowry X and outer layers of Nickel-Stainless Damascus (SUS440 steel). Cowry X is a tough Powdered Metallurgy tool steel that was specially developed by Daido Steel Company for high-performance cutting tools. It contains a high volume of Carbon (3%) and Chromium (20%), some Molybdenum (1%) and a little Vanadium (0.3%).
